Job Description:

Client is a leading provider of advanced metrology systems used in the semiconductor manufacturing process.

Responsibilities include a combination of direct and indirect management of the Global Applications Engineering team.  Primary objectives include:  Bring customer centric technology expertise inside, actively engage technologists of key strategic customers to develop and validate new, significant FEOL and BEOL applications for the semiconductor industry, be a hands on technical resource as needed.  Secondly, bring an Applications perspective to new product development and validation activities, and facilitate communication and collaboration within the global applications team.  This position reports to the VP of Marketing.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead directly and in matrix manner the global application force.

  • Responsible for developing application BKMs as well as high value added metrology applications for semiconductor front-end and back-end processes and transfer them to customer sites for validation.

  • Promote company products and solutions for process control, to increase tools utilization and bring about new sales.

  • Balance and prioritize the various internal and external Applications group requirements.

  • Participate in HQ strategic technical discussions as a liaison between HQ and customers.

  • Create and maintain a close partnership with the customer as well as with company’s business teams to promote business goal and drive new product design activities.

  • Quantify metrology system performance and dependencies by means of sound statistical techniques.

  • Actively participate in new product development and validation activities.
  • Participate in the development of joint publications with customers, applications notes, and various technical reports that detail the problem solving capability of company tools for the semiconductor industry.

  • Support Pre sale and Post sale activities.

  • Be able to travel around the world up to 25% of time to support customer evaluation programs, periodic application activities.


  • A graduate degree in Physics, Chemistry or Engineering is required. 

  • Candidates with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the semiconductor equipment industry along with a Ph.D. or 10 years of experience with a M.S. are encouraged to apply. 

  • The ideal candidate would have extensive hands-on fab experience along with a strong background in key FEOL and BEOL processes.   

  • A strong background in advanced metrology technologies and surface analysis techniques such as XPS, LEXES, and XRF is desired but not required. 

  • Candidates must have excellent problem solving skills and a high level of independent work direction. 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with strong leadership skills are required.
